The story centers on Princess Elsa of Arendelle, who has magical powers to generate ice; an ability she uses to play with her younger sister, Princess Anna. In one of their games, Elsa accidentally injures her sister. Her parents, The King and Queen of Arendelle, take their daughter Anna to a colony of trolls led by Grand Pabbie. He heals her, and for her sake erases her memories of her with Elsa, and advises Elsa to control her powers. Her parents isolate their two daughters, Anna and Elsa, inside the palace. Elsa begins to despise Anna, which causes a rift between them. Elsa chooses to override her magic rather than control it, causing her to become more insecure. When the sisters are teenagers, their parents unfortunately die at sea.

The first time Disney thought about Hans Christian Andersen, he did it in an interesting way since Walt Disney and Samuel Goldwyn had the intention of making the biography of the Danish writer; the first ones would work on the most famous tales making animated sequences and the second ones would make the sequences that would show the writer’s life in real action. There were several problems that arose in this partnership, one of them was the adaptation of the story “The Snow Queen”, so everything came to nothing. Although in 1952 Goldwyn made a film titled “Hans Christian Andersen” with Danny Kaye as the main character, it obtained six Oscar nominations.
In the company of the most famous mouse, “The Snow Queen” was only talked about again in 2011 when it was announced that they were working on a film titled Frozen to be released at the end of 2013; its directors would be Chris Buck (“Pocahontas”, “Tarzan”) and Jennifer Lee (“Zootropolis” or “Zootopia”, “Break Ralph! “or “Ralph the Wrecker”); among its screenwriters were Jennifer Lee, Chris Buck and Shane Morris (“The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning”), who worked based on the original story, and among its producers, none other than John Lasseter (“Toy Story”, “Cars”. We did a podcast on the history of Pixar) and Peter del Vecho (“Chicken Little”, “Treasure Planet”). This would become the 53rd animated film from Walt Disney Animation Studios. Initially, the film was to be made with classic animation, but it was Lasseter who decided that it would be made digitally, in CGI/3D.
