Tal y como se ha informado, el viernes 2 de julio fue el último programa de López al frente de ‘La hora de La 1’, pero lo cierto es que la meteoróloga no se despidió de sus espectadores. Sí lo ha hecho tras las cámaras y con un equipo que al menos este verano dirigirá Igor Gómez, el actual copresentador. De momento se desconoce si Mónica volverá a la sección de ‘El tiempo’ o si TVE tiene algún otro tipo de proyecto para ella, ya que sigue vinculada al ente.

‘La hora de La 1’ nunca ha estado exenta de polémica desde que comenzó el 7 de septiembre de 2020. TVE relevó a los responsables de un cartel que pudo leerse en el magacín la mañana del 10 de febrero (“Leonor se va de España, como su abuelo”), al igual que Mónica tuvo que lidiar con las críticas de la Junta Electoral Central por su supuesta “falta de neutralidad” al entrevistar a Rocío Monasterior, candidata de Vox, días antes de las elecciones madrileñas del 4 de mayo.

Es más, la cadena pública se vio obligada a aclarar un corte de la entrevista de López con Mónica García (‘Más Madrid’) y a contextualizarla después de que el fragmento corriera como la pólvora en las redes sociales. La apreciación del conductor, centrada en que el candidato explicara por qué las encuestas electorales daban como ganadora a Isabel Díaz Ayuso, fue la siguiente: “Sigo sin entender por qué los madrileños siguen votando a Isabel Díaz Ayuso y va a doblar sus resultados en escaños”. Una frase que fue tomada como un ‘dardo’ a la actual presidenta de la Comunidad de Madrid.
