The popular songs of the Basque Country are a delight for the senses, quiet, with a predominance of themes linked to the culture and traditions of our land and of course, sung in our language, the Basque.

We have to thank many Basque artists, among them, the great Mikel Laboa, Benito Lertxundi, Xabier Lette, Anje Duhalde, Imanol, Erramun Martikorena, Mikel Markez, Oskorri, Hertzainak and an endless number of great singers and better people. The songs that we are going to quote are great songs of the songbook of the Basque Country, but they are not all, we recommend to look for the songs by the authors that we name.

The second concert will be on August 3, Monday, in the church of Santa Maria at 20:00 hours and it will be enjoyed with the performance of Gaudeamus korala from Gernika. This group has performed many special shows, including operas and musical theaters. In addition, it has participated in numerous competitions and has won several awards, including recently the National Prize of the International Contest of Habaneras and Polyphony of Torrevieja. Also, its director, Julia Foruria, has won the award for Best Director of this contest.

On August 4, Tuesday, at 20:00 pm, the church of Santa Maria will host the concert of Miquel Bofill Sax Quartet, from Barcelona, in a non-traditional formation, with four saxophones. This is a group with great experience that has given numerous concerts around the world.

In 1982 the group “Sax Quartet” of Barcelona was created and in 2010 it reappeared under the name “Miquel Bofill Sax Quartet”. Its members are Miquel Bofill, soprano saxophone and conductor; Rosa Rodríguez, alto saxophone, José Antonio Guillem, tenor saxophone and Víctor Béjar, baritone saxophone. Admission to this concert is also free.
